Larry Beaird, with Nashville recording studio Beaird Music Group, has charted and researched every #1 song of 2014 and 2015 (from Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart). From Larry's research, you can learn how your song compares to the #1 songs.
Introducing Studio D at Beaird Music Group!
We are excited to announce the addition of our 4th recording room! This studio will be used mainly for track programming.
It features:
- ProTools 12
- Logic Pro X
- Maschine 2
Tracks can be programmed for use with full tracking sessions (before or after the session), or songs can be created entirely through programming (and we provide the programmers).
In addition, Studio D can be used for editing, tuning, and creating worktapes for writers, etc.
Additional instruments like strings, percussion, electronic loops, (and many others) can be added to existing tracks or programmed tracks.
Upgrades to Studio A:
We've also upgraded Studio A (our tracking room) to ProTools 12 HDX. Combined with the latest Mac Pro, it's fast as greased lightning and it sounds SO good!

Arranging the Hit - Top Trends for Verses
Songwriters, did you know that EVERY #1 song of 2015 has only two verses? In fact, the current #1 song, "Strip It Down" by Luke Bryan only has one and a half! It's a real art for songwriters to be able to condense everything they need to say into just 2 verses. The current #1 songs prove that it definitely works!
Also, no verse of the #1 songs of 2015 uses more than 4 chords. In the Luke Bryan example, the song is in the key of A, and there are only 3 chords in the verse: Bm, D, and A. In fact Bm, D, and A are the only chords in the entire song! Every section (verse, chorus AND bridge) use this pattern: Bm Bm D D A A A A.
Girl Crush by Little Big Town (#1 for 13 weeks!) uses just 4 chords for the verse: C Em F G.
Take Your Time by Sam Hunt (#1 for 11 weeks!) is in the key of B and uses only 2 chords in the verse: G#m and C#m.
Don't get me wrong - there are many hit songs that have more than 2 verses (some are favorites of mine). I'm just supplying facts about the current #1 songs.
I'm not implying that writers need to rewrite songs they've already completed, but I think it's a great idea for writers to have songs in their catalog that fit this pattern .
According to the #1 songs of 2015, writing songs that have no more than 2 verses (with no more than 4 chords in each verse) is an extremely commercial way to write songs.

#1 Album features 2 songs tracked at Beaird Music Group!
Well here it is!
The new Willie Nelson / Merle Haggard duet album, Django and Jimmie has been released. And it debuted at the top of the charts!
Two songs that we recorded as demos have been upgraded to Master status and released on this record. The album is #1 on the Country Album Chart and #7 on the Billboard Top 200 - (the chart for ALL genres)!

Larry Beaird Songwriter Workshop July 18th in Nashville! ($625 demo giveaway!)
Arranging the Hit Nashville
In 2014, Larry Beaird presented his Arranging the Hit workshop in 9 U.S. cities. Now, for the first time, writers are invited to attend the workshop in Nashville!

For 2015, Larry has charted and researched every #1 song of 2014 and 2015 (from Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart). In his workshop, Larry utilizes this research to talk with writers about how they can write more commercial songs.

The Nashville workshop will be expanded to 6 hours (from its regular 3-hr format), and each writer will be able to submit one song to be included in the presentation. Along with discussing the #1 songs, Larry will play each writer's song for the group, make a number chart of it, and offer arrangement ideas.
Arranging the Hit in Nashville will take place at Beaird Music Group on Saturday, July 18, 2015 (10:00am - 5:00pm with a 1-hour lunch break).
Beaird Music Group will be giving away a free Premier Demo to one lucky attendee! (a $625 value) All writers in attendance will be offered a 10% discount on a Premier Demo (good for 30 days).

2 songs on new Willie Nelson / Merle Haggard album tracked at Beaird Music Group!
We are honored to have tracked 2 songs for the upcoming Willie Nelson / Merle Haggard duet album! The album is titled Django & Jimmie. Congratulations to our friends Jimmy Melton and Jeff Prince for writing the title cut!
"Alice in Hulaland" and "Where Dreams Come to Die" were both tracked at Beaird Music Group. They were originally recorded as demos and then upgraded to masters for the record. (The vocals were recorded in Texas.) We offer up a big thank you to producer Buddy Cannon for allowing us to be a part of this project!
The musicians who played on the tracks recorded here are:
